A few of the people we met on Zanzibar.
Kids in the village of Fumba.
In Zanzibar there are scooters everywhere.
Big sisters.
One of us brought pencils. I asked if I could take some pictures on the playground. Not one would put their pencil down.
On the slide.
An elementary school in Unguja Kuu.
They sang the ABC's as well as some songs in Swahili that I didnt' know...
I met him out where the women were harvesting shellfish. Hunted with what looked like a 3' or so long piece of rebar that he used to spear octopus under the coral. He was happy, and expected to get 3,000 Tanzanian Shillings for the morning's work. That's $2 US.
I like the bag.
Met these two in Fumba. The guy on the right is a natural.
Like everywhere else, women over the age of about 12 think they won't be good in pictures. They are always wrong. Note the cellphone on the right.
The one with the little loaf of bread was at the place we were staying, playing in the parking lot every morning. The older kid is 18, one of the village elders corralled him into climbing trees to fetch coconuts when we visited.
I've forgotten both names. I think Samai is on the left. He's a taxi driver, friends with the owner of the Abuso Inn. The other worked at the Abuso, prepared breakfast in the mornings.
